Organise short courses, workshops, conferences, meetings etc.Under the supervision of the Director, the incumbent will undertake research in different areas of physical sciences (including but not limited to: solid-earth geophysics, condensed matter physics, high energy physics/cosmology and mathematical physics), organizing training programs for students and researchers from all over Africa, and will assist and teach in the Masters programmes. The institute is committed to diversity and aims for geographical and gender balance.
Since its inception, EAIFR has hosted visiting scientists from around the globe and run numerous workshops and schools. The institute currently runs a vibrant program consisting of in-house full-time research faculty, PhD students and students enrolled in a 2-year Masters program in Physics.
The institute was created in 2018 with a view to position itself as a leading research and training institute in Eastern Africa in the broad area of theoretical and applied physics. The EAIFR is an ICTP Partner Institute with a UNESCO Category 2 status based in Kigali at the University of Rwanda (UR) (see ).
